Katt Williams Says He and Kendrick Lamar Are Alike: "I'm Not a Person You Want Beef With"
Katt Williams recently stopped by the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, where he reflected on meeting Kendrick Lamar early in the rapper’s career—back when Kendrick was still considering using his real name, Kendrick Duckworth, as his stage name.
Katt recalled how he instantly noticed a similarity between himself and Kendrick.
“We both used to carry bags full of notebooks everywhere we went,” Katt shared, referring to their mutual drive and creative obsession. “That’s how I knew we were cut from the same cloth.”
The conversation quickly turned to Kendrick’s ongoing feud with Drake, which Katt praised Kendrick for handling with unrelenting intensity.
“Kendrick is relentless. And I’m the same way,” Katt said. “I’m not a person you want beef with. It’s bad optics.”
He also commented on Kendrick's bold decision to perform in Drake’s hometown of Toronto, calling it a powerful statement.
“Just understand what Kendrick has to be doing to have a show there. We’re not talking about Drake doing a show in L.A. or the Bay. But Kendrick went to [Toronto] and did that body of work. That’s what it means to stand on 10. That’s standing on business.”
When the topic of Kendrick being called a “hater” came up, Katt offered a different perspective:
“Kendrick’s not saying he hates Drake. He’s saying, ‘I don’t hate you—I hate the choices you make. Because those are the choices that b**** a** n****s make.’”
Katt made it clear that he’s a fan of both Kendrick and Drake, but said he respects Kendrick’s courage to go after “the bear”—referring to Drake—and try to take him down.
