Toronto Rapper Top5 Was Injured in Apparent Targeted Attack in London
Controversial Toronto rapper Top5 was reportedly stabbed while attending this year’s Wireless Festival in London.
The incident first came to light via DJ Akademiks, who claimed that a masked man stabbed Top5 in the neck while he was interacting with fans. Toronto blog Keep6ixSolid later reported that the rapper is recovering and that no major arteries were affected.
However, conflicting reports from The Sun suggest the injury may not have involved the neck at all. The outlet obtained video footage showing a violent altercation near a white Mercedes, where a group of men were seen stomping the windshield and kicking the driver. One person was forcibly pulled from the vehicle, and according to The Sun, Top5 was stabbed in the leg, not the neck.
The attack reportedly occurred not long after Top5 posted clips to his Instagram Story showing him watching Drake's headlining set from a VIP section near the stage.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident, stating officers were called around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday to Springpark Drive near Finsbury Park. A spokesperson said, “The victim, a man in his 20s, was approached by a group who damaged his car before stabbing him in the leg. He was taken to hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life-changing. Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
At the time of writing, Top5 has not made a public statement addressing the incident.
